Programme Highlight: The Future of Digital Conversations in Sri Lanka

Media outlets, government institutions, religious leaders and influencers the world over use social media to share information and engage audiences. These conversations can often be polarising, with some groups silenced by bullying and harassment. From Sri Lanka—a country still recovering from a brutal war that ended in 2009—there are lessons to be learnt about platforms and spaces where people have successfully—or unsuccessfully—engaged in difficult conversations.

This all-star panel of Sri Lankan media professionals and thinkers will explore the opportunities and risks around the present and future of the online landscape in a country that is post-war, but not yet post-conflict.

Saturday 2 December at 10:30am on the Main Stage at TRACE Expert City.
